I think it was £15bn from not having Trident and the other £2.5bn from various wastage savings being identified by t'Cable.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22057922.post-58301123053509867872007-11-23T22:00:00.000+00:002007-11-23T22:00:00.000+00:00Aah anonymous, that explains it then, but he didn'...Aah anonymous, that explains it then, but he didn't say that on Wednesday and he didn't explain why that was the highest priority.Linda Jackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05155438246679688058noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22057922.post-63037975231411700092007-11-23T21:25:00.000+00:002007-11-23T21:25:00.000+00:00That's why Chris has been very careful to say that...That's why Chris has been very careful to say that it will take two parliaments and a lot of political will to achieve it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22057922.post-87177520945257150652007-11-23T20:52:00.000+00:002007-11-23T20:52:00.000+00:00£15.5 billion is a lot of money, that's for sure. ...£15.5 billion is a lot of money, that's for sure. But it's not such a large sum that it couldn't be found through increases in taxation.

To make the sums add up, Chris would have to propose increases in tax. I would find that impossible to support given the current levels of tax and our existing commitments to cut income taxes. Pouring in more money without structural reform is really just a 'more of the same' approach, so I have to hope that that's not what he's advocating. I'll be going to a hustings tomorrow, so perhaps I'll find out then!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22057922.post-74260267313625462042007-11-23T19:51:00.000+00:002007-11-23T19:51:00.000+00:00It's the economy, stupid! It's the economy, stupid!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
